JB Paterson – Biography JB Paterson is a roving, blue-collar songwriter and producer from Cedar Creek, Queensland, Australia. Known for his earthy blend of folk, blues, and classic singer-songwriter storytelling, Paterson crafts deeply personal and poetic songs reminiscent of Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and Townes Van Zandt. Working from his self-built, solar-powered off-grid studio — Easy Machine Recordings — nestled in the hills outside Brisbane, Paterson records and produces all his music independently. His style is stripped-back and authentic, shaped by raw instrumentation, lyrical introspection, and a strong DIY ethic. After making waves with his 2021 debut EP Young Man for a While, he released the full-length album Springtime Is Coming in 2022 — a 13-track suite rich with seasonal imagery, quiet longing, and heartfelt arrangements. In 2023, he followed up with the companion EP Time Goes By (Springtime Outtakes). His latest release, Whole World’s Gone Mad, And So Have I (2025), marks a bold step forward — delivering biting social commentary wrapped in narrative-driven songs that showcase both his growth as a writer and his commitment to truth-telling through music. Over the years, JB Paterson has shared stages with the likes of Mark Lanegan, Jade Bird, Gabriella Cohen, The Audreys, and Jack Davies, touring across Australia’s east coast and playing intimate venues and indie festivals. His music continues to find its way to discerning ears, resonating with listeners who cr
