Jason Lyle Black is not your average pianist or entertainer - one minute he’s performing a thrilling rendition of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, while the next minute you hear hilarious parodies of hits by Mika or Michael Jackson by virtue of Jason’s uncanny ability to play by ear and compose on the fly. A native of Livermore, CA, Jason started playing the piano at the age of 8. He studied classical piano with Mary Beth Cheney, from whom he also learned theory and composition techniques. Jason has been composing, arranging, and playing his music publicly since the age of 15 - often playing alongside acclaimed pianists such as Jon Schmidt. Jason’s career took a major leap forward with his 2010 appearance on national television on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, followed by a performance on CNN, in which he performed his trademark head-pedaling backwards piano act. Since then, Jason has performed across the country in settings ranging from school assemblies, concerts, corporate conferences etc. - entertaining all with his highly interactive performances.
