Worship leader Jason Bare has a renewed sense of urgency in his life. After spending a lifetime growing up in church as a preacher’s kid, attending Lee University and traveling as part of the Lee Singers, honing his songwriter skills and releasing two national songs, and dedicating 14 years leading congregations in corporate praise & worship, Jason is tentatively moving in a bolder direction with his music. While his EP Over the Edge highlights songs that have shaped his past, Jason is currently recording a new full-length CD that will capture his present, and Jason is readying himself for the transition. After a long absence from recording, Jason felt compelled to re-enter the process after finding a long lost song one tragic day. It was a song he had co-written with his cousin Amanda many years before. The two had grown up more like brother and sister in their close-knit family, but Amanda had walked a different road. After years of battling addiction, she eventually sought help and was in the process of finding a better path for her life. But in 2009, it all went terribly wrong when Amanda died of a medically-induced drug overdose. On the day of her death, Jason stumbled upon the old song the two had composed called “Story of Grace.” “I had searched for that song for years,” says Jason. “And when I found it on the exact day she died, I knew it had to be a God-thing.
