There are two artists of this name: an experimental project from Austin, TX and a performer from Los Angeles. 1. Jasmine Star is an experimental project by C. Salazar and A.S. Reisfield from Austin, TX. When initially released, the self-titled CD credited the lead singer only as Z. Fan-sites where created, complete with hidden links, claiming that Z was a performance artist from the eighties who was hospitalized for drug abuse and depression. These sites are no longer available. 2. Jasmine Star (her real name) isn’t particularly known for making pop music. Star built her online following (600k+ followers across platforms and 75M+ views) through her stellar guitar playing, particularly in the rock genre. Named in 2020 as one of the top 5 young guitarists in the world by Guitar World magazine, Star has shared the stage with names such as Linda Perry and Daughtry. Star’s own explosive genre-bending live shows in LA venues such as The Troubadour and The Viper Room have garnered attention from magazines such as Variety and SPIN as well as other write-ups and interviews in publications such as Loudwire, Guitar World, Louder, MetalSucks, Atwood, and MusicRadar.
