Artist
Jared Bartman was born in Princeton, Illinois in June of 1988. He began playing piano at age seven, but eventually lost interest when he started guitar lessons at age nine, eager to learn Beatles songs. He joined his first band at age thirteen. After a lengthy period of only playing covers, that band eventually graduated into writing their own material. They recorded a full-length album of original music during winter and spring of 2004, but broke up soon after. At this time, Jared renewed his interest in piano, and began taking lessons again. When his second band dissolved midway through high school, Jared began work on demos that would lead to his first solo e.p., The Kathy Clark E.P., which was released in January of 2007. That same month, Jared borrowed his uncle’s accordion, and began teaching himself how to play, soon integrating his own accordion numbers into his live set. During the summer of 2007, Jared produced his longtime friend and former bandmate Tom Beneke’s first solo album, The Ocean, It Runs Into The Sea. As the sessions for Tom’s record came to a close, Jared began work on his next e.p., the highly conceptual I Refute Technology in August of 2007, recording sporadically through the fall and winter at Champaign, Illinois’ Pogo Studio with friend and producer Mark Rubel, all the while pursuing degrees in Music and English at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.
