Janice Prix was founded in the summer of 2007 when Richard Sädbom and Viktor Kivi began writing songs together. The sound was experimented with through various different influences. In late December the same year the duo caught eye of a drummer, Sebastian Andersson, who was looking for a band. The three of them met at a rehearsal place to jam which resulted in Sebastian Andersson's joining the band. When bass player Anton Grahn, whom the band had been keeping an eye on for a long time, eventually teamed up with the band the setting was complete. Things finally started to move. During the fall of 2008 the band recorded its first song "Violet Dance" on its own. The critical reception was exclusively positive from many different directions. The band started booking gigs while continuing recording a second song. In January 2009, the band released the fragile, but epic "Drawing Lines". During the spring the band did a couple of gigs but spent most of the time focusing on writing and rehearsing new songs. By the end of the summer, eight songs were ready to be played live. Sebastian Andersson left the band after a sunny farewell gig in August to study political science at Uppsala University. Before he left the band, drums were recorded for all songs so the others could spend time in the studio working on a debut EP while looking for a new drummer. A third song, called "Volt", was released shortly after, showing a different sound with a heavier focus on synthesizers. At first
