Jan Jirásek was born in 1955, in a small Czech town Rychnov nad Kneznou. He is Czech composer that studied at the Janácek Academy of Musical Art in Brno (JAMU ). He graduated composition with Prof.Zdenek Zouhar as well as electro-acoustic, computer and electronic music and music theory. Jirasek creates, among others, movie soundtracks. He was awarded 2 most important Czech movie awards for the original music composition - the Czech Lions. The awards were granted for movies "Wild Flowers" (directed by F.A Brabec, 2001) and "An Ambiguous Report About the End of the World" (directed by Jakubisko, 1997).
