Jan Jargoń (* 23 June 1928 in Paulsdorf, today Zabrze, Poland; † 31 October 1995 in Krakow) was a Polish composer, organist, organ builder and full professor at the Krakow Music Academy. Already at the age of 7 Jan Jargoń began to play accordion inspired by the musical tradition of the family. At the age of 10 he received piano lessons and in 1941 he began organ lessons. Due to his great talent, in 1943 he was trained at the Katowice State Music School (Katowice Music Academy). Already during his musical education Jan Jargon was interested in the functioning of the organ and organ building. This passion accompanied him throughout his life parallel to playing the organ. In 1971 he initiated the establishment of the art workshop for the preservation of historical organs in Poland. Jan Jargon led the reconstruction of the organ of the Dominican monastery church St. Nikolaus in Gdansk with master organ builder Franz Rietzsch in 1977 and the restoration of the organ of the Pauliner monastery church in Krakow with master Jacek Kulig in 1984.1] These organs were presented in the series Historical Organs in Poland by the label aulos - MusiKado; in addition to works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Feliks Nowowiejski, Jan Jargoń also played parts of his own composition Triptychon per Organo.
