Jan Hegenberg (born 19 November 1976 in Witten) is a German musician known for songs inspired by video games and gaming culture. Hegenberg gained recognition in the gaming community through self-released music, opting not to sign with a record label. From 2003, he distributed his music primarily as free downloads, and in 2004 some tracks were included as a DVD with the PC magazine "PC Action", which had a circulation of 150,000. By May 2008, Hegenberg's songs had been played nearly 500,000 times on Last.fm by 13,000 listeners, despite being available on the platform only since April 2008. Fan-made YouTube videos using his music have accumulated millions of views. His income sources include sponsorships from companies such as Atari, Levicom, and Xilence, as well as performances at concerts across Germany. In 2008, Media Markt acquired exclusive rights to Hegenberg's compilation album "Schlachtenlaerm", released alongside the World of Warcraft expansion "Wrath of the Lich King". In 2009, he released his fifth album, "Untot auf Urlaub". On 17 April 2010, Hegenberg performed live with the band BAM at the Role Play Convention in Cologne.
