Artist
James Cyrus Stewart (born March 2, 1978) is an American musician and writer best known for leading the experimental group Xiu Xiu. Other projects include 7 Year Rabbit Cycle, Blue Water White Death, HEXA, Xiu Xiu Larsen, and Former Ghosts. They were born and raised in California, USA. They come from a musical background - their father, Michael Stewart, was formerly a music producer and software engineer, who worked with artists such as Billy Joel and Tom Jones, and played in the 1960s band We Five. Jamie played for a short time in various bands before forming IBOPA with his father and seven other people. After IBOPA broke up in 1999, Jamie and four of their former bandmates went on to create Ten in the Swear Jar, which also disbanded in 2002. Around that time, the project Xiu Xiu got born - it has been going on for over 20 years and it can boast hundreds of songs over many releases over the years, along with a very dedicated fanbase. As a writer, they have published a number of compilations of haikus before making their literary debut in fiction with the semi-autobiographical collection of stories "Anything That Moves", which was published in 2023.
