James Purefoy is a famous British actor born on 3 June 1964 in Taunton, UK. He was raised in Somerset near Yeovil, England along with his two older sisters and a younger brother. He was sent to Sherborne Boarding School, where he completed only one O-Level. However, he joined night school and later completed eleven O-Levels. At the age of 16, James Purefoy left school and then worked in a pig farm and as a porter in Yeovil District Hospital. At the age of 18, James Purefoy attended college to take A-Level exams, which included an exam on Drama. He realized he had an interest in acting and applied to the Central School of Speech and Drama. James Purefoy was selected for the acting course at the school, but he had to sell newspaper copies of the Socialist Worker while studying to support himself. James Purefoy married Holly Aird, a famous English TV actress, in 1996 and has a son named Joseph. In 2002, however, James Purefoy separated from his wife. In 1988, James Purefoy was spotted by a casting director from the Royal Shakespeare Company, a British theatre group, while he was playing the lead role in Henry V. Even though it was only the first term of his final year, James Purefoy was invited to join the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford.
