His recent solo career has been preceded by the memberships of bands such as TAFT and Operor Non Fatigo. His influence is vast, as shown in his music, which consists of everything from electronica beats and roaring guitar. James states that a Robert Fripp and Brian Eno collaboration on tape was what "undoubtedly inspired" his electronic music interest during his childhood.
