about

Multi-instrumentalist, James Edge, has been playing and singing, mainly around London, for the last 3 years, dragging a loose collection of musicians with him and inviting them to assist when the venue will let them in. Recently coalescing into a glorious and handsome whole, they have formed The Mindstep, comprising Vince Hardwick (transverse basses), Avvon Chambers (drums and percussion), Chris Wright (electric guitar), Andy Waterworth (upright, or “double”, basses) and Nick Peck (piano). Multi-instrumentalist, James Edge, uses his musical skills (which include the ability to play several instruments) to take the listener on a bipolar tour, taking in the highs and lows of hate and love, Earth and cosmos, nadir and zenith, regret and not regret and, like warm olive oil of the soul, breaks down the listener's emotional earwax into a sort of meta-slurry that falls out in the night onto the pillow of existence.* Multi-instrumentalist producer, James Edge, has recently used his musical skills, along those of the Mindstep and the-best-string-arranger-in-the-history-of-popular-music™ (Mr. Robert Kirby), to create an album of musical works, which is available to consume. Recorded at Milk Studios 2009-2010 by Tom Aitkenhead, In The Hills, The Cities, is a tour-de-force of dark sci-folk (which is a genre they made up specially). You should listen to it, it’s rather good. A 9 track CD limited to 500 copies is available NOW on Slanting Mounted Head Records Multi-instrumentalist prod
