On Monday, January 17th 1983, a baby boy was born to parents, Synthia and Sherly Larmond in the Mandeville Regional Hospital. They brought forth a child known as Michael Larmond, but to the world he is known as Jah Mikes. Jah Mikes was born and raised in Content District, Williamsfield, Manchester, Jamaica. He attended Bellefield High School and later on transferred to Holmwood Technical where he studied the Arts. Jah Mikes was always active in drama and poetry thus explaining his writing ability. Inspiration from his friend and upcoming artist Slobo, also helped him to acknowledge his gift in music. With his exceptional selection of words, lyrical concepts, along side his versatility places him above the rest. Jah Mikes’ first performance was in the Cayman Islands at a Talent Show called Exposure (2006). Some may say his voice is identifiable to that of his highly admired artist Bounty Killer. Jah Mikes has performed on numerous occasions in the Cayman Islands, where he currently resides. He also performed at the Heineken Startime (2005) and at Kirkvine Sports Club (2005) in Manchester, Jamaica. He has shared the stage with the likes of Sean Kingston, Jose Whale, and Yellow Man among others.
