There are (or were) multiple projects going by the name of Jack's Smirking Revenge. 1. Jack's Smirking Revenge is a punk band from Denver, CO. The band started out in 2008 as an acoustic solo project of singer/guitarist Alex Pelissero, but became a full electric band in 2012. Their first full band album, A Monumental Shame, was released in February 2014. A bunch of EP's have followed since then. 2. Jack's Smirking Revenge was a indie/experimental rock band based out of the Florida panhandle. Primarily known for the the intensity of their stage show and their wall-of-sound approach sometimes featuring three guitars, their influences ranged widely from Cursive to Mr. Bungle to Sonic Youth. Jack's Smirking Revenge were sometimes compared to Hum, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead and Smashing Pumpkins. JSR's sound was characterized by densely layered compositions interspersed with noise binges, melodic guitar leads, and the use of unconventional time signatures and polyrhythms (two or more instruments playing in different time signatures together in one song). Jack's Smirking Revenge admitted that vocals were a secondary concern and they were a band centered around the instrumentation. They formed in 2004 and disbanded in 2006 after recording a single self-released EP under the title "Seafoam Green".
