Artist
There are two artists by the name Jabbar Karyagdy. 1. Jabbar Karyagdy (a.k.a. Cabbar Qaryağdıoğlu, Cyrillic: Джаббар Карягдыоглу, 1861-1944) was a mugam singer from Azerbaijan. Karyagdy was one of the prominent singers of his time in Azerbaijan. He participated in concerts and meetings along with the tar players Sadygdjan, Mirza Faradj and kamancha player Meshedi Gulu. In 1905 he created a trio with the tar player G.Pirimov and kamancha player S. Oganezashvili. By an invitation of stock companies "Gramophone", "Sport-Record" and "Extraphone", he recorded his voice on a gramophone in Kiev, Moscow and Warsaw in the period 1906-1912. He can be heard on the compilation cd "Before the Revolution. A 1909 Recording Expedition In The Caucasus And Central Asia By The Gramophone Company ". 2. A shortened version of Trio Jabbâr Garyaghdu Oghlu, a.k.a. Mugam Ensemble of Jabbar Karyagdy, a mugam ensemble named after the singer above.
