about

JW Ridley has been quietly releasing some of the most emotive and immersive music of recent months. The tracks that he has released so far, ‘Everything (Deathless)’, ‘1990’ and ‘Blitz’, mix up propulsive, urgent verses, grand, expansive choruses, motoring, post-punk guitars, driving beats and Jack’s haunting, reflective vocal. The newcomer is picking up a keen audience with support from Stereogum (“energized krautrock all running through a washed-out filter”), DIY (“hazy, sprawling epic”), Hero (“soulful poetic and avant-garde sensibilities”) and Wonderland (“emotionally charged, heavy guitar music”) and picking up spins from Huw Stephens, Steve Lamacq, Lauren Laverne, Tom Ravenscroft and Zane Lowe. Line of Best Fit has called his work “the kind of robust, maximalist songwriting that makes you sit bolt upright and pay attention.” User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
