Karl Hans Joseph, known professionally as JHK No AKA, is a Haitian rapper, producer, and co-founder of the independent record label La Cour Des Treize. He was born in Carrefour, a suburb of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. His mother was a school teacher and his father a journalist. Growing up in Carrefour, his backyard was a gathering place for local musical groups such as Lambada, Black Bird, and Bobech. His uncle's friend, Orline Titus, was the only musician he knew who secured a traditional record deal. Observing the difficulties Titus faced in the industry influenced Joseph's later decision to pursue an independent path in music. Joseph briefly studied Management Information Systems at the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC) in Kingston, Jamaica, but left the program to pursue music production and performance. While working for a technology company, he connected with collaborators Balance and Biggs, who worked with him on his debut album. In June 2020, Joseph released his debut album, Above The LAW, through his own label, La Cour Des Treize, which he co-founded with childhood friend Wisler "MAL" Pierre Louis (also known as Tony A tout Prix from the Haitian film A tout Prix). The album was entirely self-produced. Following the album's release, La Cour Des Treize expanded into a platform promoting and distributing music for other Haitian artists, including Meza45, Next, Kafou City, Junior Mix, Dobel, Fighter, and Khenyo bj.
