The scion of musical royalty, Jimmy Castor of the legendary Jimmy Castor Bunch, J-Cast began playing the piano at the age of nine and wrote his first lyrics in his teens. Abandoning the safe harbor of pedestrian popular music, he forged the group Turnstyle, creating a local NYC band that epitomized the hip-hop/rock genre, and whose message spread quickly from its home base to the American heartland.
