Singer / Songwriter J Marie Cooper combines beautifully crafted, heart-felt lyrics with an explosive on-stage presence that has captivated London's music scene in recent months. J Marie hails from north London and has been singing for as long as she can remember. 'I did attend dance college for a while' recalls J Marie 'but ballet every morning at 9am didn't really seem to be my calling. I was the girl who would turn up in black eyeliner with a million holes in my tights. Hardly Darcey Bussell!' She worked in two female groups and collaborated with Nile Rogers, Narada Michael Walden and Jeff Beck. 'It was so mad' says J Marie. 'I was working with these hugely successful legends but then at the weekends when I wasn't at the studio I would be working as a sales assistant and waitress to make ends meet and cover my travel fares to the studio!'. J Marie had a great experience in both groups but then decided her own music was the route she wanted to take. 'My style is always evolving', says J Marie. I have been through some extremely dark times,and some wonderful light times. God is my witness and it's all there in the music! Every mile stone and every bit of joy you can hear, right there in the words of my songs'.
