J Fox are a fusion of two of North West music's anomalous figures; Brendan John O'Leary (aka OLeary1599) of Fleck/owner of Golden Ramification Records, and Steven Jones (aka Mobile), singer in Moco. They exist in the small part of the Venn Diagram where performance art stops being pretentious and where music ceases to be coherent. They don't so much perform as assault the audience with their act. Largely spontaneous, with some occasional reference points provided courtesy of backing tapes (hastily recorded on the day of the show), J Fox's performances (their records are all live shows) outrage and delight in equal measure, savaging classic popular songs and original material despite their sincere intentions. They roll around, they encourage participation, they are masters of comic timing and they are completely fearless. They've braved hostility to win through, and their decade-long tenure as ever-winning underdogs is proudly earned.
