Ivo São Bento ( VelgeNaturlig) is an experimental sound artist and aural composer in the field of auditory art, originally from Lisbon (Portugal), based in Austria.. Remaining consistently improvisational in his working method, each performance focuses exclusively on the present moment. This results in a multitude of unique sonic outcomes and the creation of a "completely natural flow"—the central focus of São Bento's artistic practice. From crafting expansive, ever-changing soundscapes by layering meticulously processed sounds, field recordings, and electroacoustic elements, to precisely elaborating minimalist musical blueprints using vintage analog equipment, this Portuguese electronic music veteran's work generates a diversity of auditory environments—pleasant, immersive, and luminous, as well as dense, heavy, dissonant, and unexpected. Under the name VelgeNaturlig ( Ivo São Bento), he has released over 30 solo full-length albums, some of which have been released on international record labels or simple DIY.
