Ivkova slava "IVKO'S FEAST" is a movie by Zdravko Sotra relesaed in year 2005. his story by Stevan Sremac takes place in Nish, towards the end of the nineteenth century, during the calm down of the stormy historic events which led to final liberation of southern Serbian parts from Turkish occupation which lasted for centuries. Modern, western-oriented King Milan Obrenović, somehow managed to get the suffered Serbian people onto big European bandwagon which right then reached Serbia for the first time ie Belgrade and Niš.Just at that time, a reputable landholder quilt maker Ivko decided, full of optimism, to celebrate st. Georege's day, his st patron's day in peace and freedom. Following long preparations that took several days, under close observance by Keva, Ivko's wife, the feasting day has come. The house was filled with respectable and less respectable citizens, and front of the table was occupied as each year by Ivko's true friends, widely known fantast and lier Kalča, drinker Smuk and big gourmand Kurjak. One place at the table was occupied by Svetislav, a youth in love with Mariola, the serving maid, for whom no one present knew who he was and where he came from. But as it often happens on Serbian feasts, with song, food and drink everything ‘fits' in place and extends deep into the night when even the most enduring eaters and drinkers give way and go home. But this year, this st. George's day, Kalča, Kurjak, Smuk and the uninvited unknown Svetislav outreached themselv
