Isao Matsushita

Isao Matsushita (松下功, Isao Matsushita, Tokyo , November 23 1951 ) is a Japanese composer , music educator and conductor. Matsushita studied from 1973 to 1977 composition by Hiroaki Minami of the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music ( Japanese :东京艺术大学Tōkyō Daigaku Gei-jutsu), now: Tokyo University of the Arts . At the same university he then studied with Toshiro Mayuzumi to 1979. Then he exchanged with a scholarship from the Deutscher Akademischer Austausch-Dienst (DAAD) at the University of Arts in Berlin , then: Hochschule für Musik Berlin called, and studied with Isang Yun until 1986. One of the other students when it was later Taiwanese composer Pan Hwang-long (潒皍龅). As a conductor he was from 1982 to 1986 associated with the Ensemble Kochi (East Wind) in Berlin and from 1999 in Tokyo. Since 1990 he has been conductor of the Camerata Nagano and 1993 of the Bunkyo Civic Orchestra in Tokyo. He is also a guest conductor with several orchestras in Germany and Japan. Matsushita is since 1987 professor for composition at the Tokyo University of the Arts. Since 2003 he is also a professor of contemporary Asian music associated with the Performing Arts Center. He was a guest lecturer at several universities and conservatories in the United States , such as University of California - Berkeley , Colgate University in Hamilton and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign , the institute Centro Ricerche Musicali (CRM) in Rome , in South Korea at the Seoul National Uni
