Although Isabella Strange was formed in the midst of lockdown, their visceral post-punk sound is rooted in their experience as live musicians, having played together for 5 years in various projects. Heavily inspired by the music of PJ Harvey and punk traditions such as riot girl, no wave and grunge, Isabella Strange have a distinctly retro sound, blended with contemporary indie rock and alternative pop influences. As soon as the live music scene re-emerged in 2021, the band hit the ground running, sharing stages with acts such as Bikini Body, Do Nothing, DITZ and LIFE. Isabella Strange have earned a place within the Scottish punk scene for their energetic and gripping performances, and the band’s demos have been showcased a number of times on Radio Scotland’s BBC Introducing show. Despite having no official releases, Isabella Strange garnered a following through playing various festivals around Scotland such as Tenement Trail, Stag and Dagger, and Edinburgh Psych Fest. 2024 is going to be an exciting year for the band, with plans to record and release a number of new singles.
