about

The band IRISH ROSE appeared on scene of "slovak irish" music in summer 2003. It was started by two irish music fans who were members of (now nonexistent band) Highland Corbies. It was Peťo Marcinko, tin whistle and bagpipe player and fiddler Katka Ivasenková. Almost from beginning played with them flutist Zuzka Orosová, too. During that year joined the band bodhrán player Peťo Holodňák, guitar player Jožko Szánto and singer Evka Trembeczká. The band started to enlarge its repertoire with mostly instrumental songs, with typical catchy rythms, like reel, jig, but also with traditional songs, which are often reflecting beautiful but also rough irish nature. In summer 2004, Peťo Marcinko left the band but a bit later the missing sound of bagpipes was replaced by banjo player Kaja Andreasová. With her coming the band have moved forward and in January 2005 recorded its first Demo CD. Newest change in formation of the band was in summer 2006. Zuzka left to Ireland and later left the band. Her place as flutist took Duška Mantičová. With more concerts and playing Irish Rose started to gain its typical sound and get closer to audience not only in Slovakia but also in Czech Republic. Nowadays the band enriched its repertoire with own songs and sound of the band gained more modern spirit.
