Into the Presence was formed in 2008 by session musician and songwriter, Luis Carlos Maldonado. Originally a vehicle for a solo album, Luis, encouraged by friend and fellow musician, Tim Alexander, recorded the self-titled debut album at Alexander’s private studio in the ghost town of Jerome, Arizona. Alexander brought in sisters Ana Lenchantin and Paz Lenchantin to contribute to the self titled work, in which only Ana would become a member of the live group and later a core member. It was a musical endeavor that would concentrate on real time performances. The album had boasted using analog equipment with nothing of the digital realm to be found anywhere on it. “We recorded this album on a two-inch analog format so there was no digital,” Maldonado explains in a RockWired.com interview. “There was no cutting and pasting or auto-tuning. The recording is an honest documentation of what went on in the studio.” Following mixing, Into the Presence formally became a group. The band’s name originated from the many paranormal experiences in and out of the studio during the time of the recordings. It is widely known amongst Luis’ associates that the other-worldly seem to follow him just about everywhere.
