Imperial Night was formed in 2017 by bassist/vocalist Jade DelBen and guitarist/vocalist/producer Isaac Riley, initially under the name of "The Labours of Heracles." After going through many musical and nominal changes, it soon stabilized around the lineup of DelBen, Riley, and drummer/multi-instrumentalist James Glasco in 2018. After a year's hiatus, the group was revived in 2019 under the name Imperial Night. Following a period of writing and rehearsing, recording for "The Cost of Infamy" began in early 2020, but the nearly-complete mixes of each track were lost due to Riley's computer failing. However, ‘Point of Sale’ was salvaged from an .mp3 preview and was released as a single in April. In the meantime, saxophonist Excie Guillot joined the group and recording for the EP resumed in 2021. Despite Glasco leaving the group due to creative differences, "The Cost of Infamy" was completed and released in April 2021. Sean Sisti joined the group following Glasco's departure, initially enlisted as both a keyboardist and drummer. However, Glasco rejoined the group during the recording of "Mars," which was released in July 2022, making it the group's only release as a quintet. Guillot then left the group to focus on his studies while the group was writing material for what would become its first full-length album. Now working as a quartet, "Gothic Nightmare" was completed and released in August 2023, despite group tensions and several hiatuses. Following the completion of the s
