Brain A and Brain B sat alone in the dark. Their earth was destroyed in the first multiverse crisis, and they thought that they were the only two left in existence, trapped in limbo. Then Alexander Luthor (who was an alternate version of Superman's Nemesis Lex Luthor) who hailed from Earth-Three and helped save earth from the anti-monitor, eventually became a villain who wanted to create the perfect universe or some such shit. Well he failed but some shit happened and then there were 52 universes in the multiverse as opposed to the infinite number of parallel universes that there were originally. One of the universes that came back into existence belonged to Brain A and Brain B, thus they were no longer trapped in the void. Galactus came out of the cuts and tried to eat their planet, and some bigwigs at Marvel Comics got all pissed off and were like, "We're gonna sue you, Galactus belongs to US,". Then whatever omnipotent being that was responsible for bringing Galactus to the DC universe was thrown in jail with Charles Manson. Charles Manson then contacted Brain A and Brain B through a radio and ordered the two to find a way to make money to bail him and that other guy out. Charles Manson was charismatic and charming enough for the two Brains to agree and thus they set out on a search for how to make money to bail him out.
