In late 1984, punk artist Ida Feldman and her father Aron Feldman, the legendary 'gaúcho' marginal filmmaker, censored by the Brazilian military dictatorship in the 1970s, decided to relocate from Santo André to Belo Horizonte, Brazil, to start a new life. Formed at the end of 1985, Ida E Os Voltas would emerge in flourishing Brazilian post-punk’s Belo Horizonte post-punk scene, after Ida meets Bruno Verner, Aleca (A. de Alexandria), Frederico Pessoa and Bernardo Rennó; longtime friends who lived in the same tower block, at the bars Trincheira and Complexo B - two of the art punk strongholds of the city at the time. The name of the band, suggested by photographer Leca Kangussu after a drinking night at Complexo B, stuck, and over the next two years Ida e Os Voltas would become a constant presence on the prolific underground local concert circuit of shows, gaining a strong cult status for its quirky live performances, straight-forward/ candid poetry, and lo-fi/ Casio-driven post-punk Lo-Fi sonorities. Ida E Os Voltas disbanded in 1988. https://www.discogs.com/artist/6240728-Ida-E-Os-Voltas User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
