Thierry Cassette and Dj Sunn had known each other for a long time – thanks to the Internet – so in June 2007 they decided to collaborate to combine the enchanting melodies of one with the evil rhythms of the other. That project was revealed in March 2008, with the of "Pegasus" on Actuate Recordings, along with the participation of their friends Karybde & Scylla, Aeden, Gdream and Denebstar. These two talented French trance producers continued to work together and "Pegasus" was followed by "Desperate Addiction" during the summer of 2008. To share their taste in music with a larger group, Ice Upon Fire became a resident of Tranceploration, Karybde & Scylla's radio show, in October 2007 on the pulsradio.com trance channel. For fifty heavenly minutes they created a monthly radio show of pure sound and uplifting trance, always performed with an unwavering enthusiasm. But the end of 2008 permanently changed the face of Ice Upon Fire, following the tragic and accidental death of Thierry Cassette. Though it was a difficult choice for him to make, Guillaume (DjSunn) decided to continue the adventure on his own and learn to mix on real turntables. "The Next Level" was released in February 2009, a track Thierry had invested in heavily, including an excellent remix by Oen Bearen.
