Since their formation in 2013, Leeds trio Irk have been exploring a sonic realm that's somewhere between the more abrasive ends of noise rock and math rock, using drums, bass and vocals. With their debut EP, Bread and Honey (2014) and a Split EP with Wren (2015), Irk began to craft their sound while touring throughout Europe. The band’s debut album Recipes from the Bible was released in 2018 and shows the band contorting their sound into new shapes, with chaotic, snappy tracks contrasted against longer, more progressive songs, as well as the inclusion of guest vocals and saxophone. Recipes from the Bible was the platform the band needed to explore some of the stranger ends of the sub-genres they sit within and make the listener feel truly uncomfortable.
