about

I/C/O/C is an experimental noise project from Mexico City started in 2004, it consists of one member, Marcos Hassan. The music is based on mechanical, repetitive "rhythms" (influenced in approach by Industrial Records artists, krautrock, The Fall and Flipper) with an effects-altereted guitar improvising on top. The result is a very abrassive and oppressing sound that can be described as harsh noise, yet mostly avoids the generic sounds associated with said sub-genre. In 2007, the first releases of the project became available in the form of various EP cd-rs, as well as a split cassette with Panicsville. That same year, the band also opened for Sonic Youth on their visit to Mexico City, in front of a very large and hostile crowd. The band has collaborated live with experimental/noise artists from Mexico, including Julio Clavijo, Amniosis and The New Parallelogramers; I/C/O/C has releases on several labels, among them Tanz Procesz, dollfullofrivets, Sonora Discos, Smell The Stench, Phage Tapes and Ruido Horrible.
