Founded in 2002 by fledging gold-era pioneers Doug Martin, Brian Carlson and Andy Schaff, I Was In Vancouver is a strong industry, pumping out solid, working-class Midwestern Alt/Indie rock on a consistent basis through some of the toughest times this country has faced in recent history. Absorbing smaller firms such as Norman and Larson Rhythmatics, IWIV has always managed to stay one step ahead of tragedies that bring smaller corporations to their knees. After bringing on CFO Justin Johnson of, you guessed it, Cyberdyne Systems, the groundwork was laid for the lads to begin doing what any gold-era pioneers running a mega corporation do; Play in a band in Minneapolis, MN. Through the stress of trials and tribulations, after 400 different names and at least 7 or 8 different members, between 11,000 files sent back and forth, editing, tweaking and changing, I Was in Vancouver was born. They’ve since formed a bond between musicianship and friendship that spreads contagious merriment and pleasure to all around. Come on out to where the air is fresh and the music is pure, to a place where, when you return, you can definitively say yes, I Was In Vancouver.
