Heo Young-ji, also known as HUR YOUNGJI or Youngji, was born on August 30, 1994, in Goyang, South Korea. She gained recognition as a member of the popular girl group Kara and later pursued a solo career in 2023. Youngji attended SOPA (Seoul Performing Arts High School) while training at Core Contents Media. Although she had plans to debut with a new girl group, she left before the group's debut. Afterward, she became a trainee at KeyEast before joining DSP Media as a trainee. During this time, two members of the girl group Kara had departed. To find a new member, DSP Media launched a reality TV show called Kara Project, where seven trainees competed against each other for the opportunity to join the group. Despite facing an injury that caused her to miss two performances, Youngji captured the hearts of viewers and topped the voting charts. In July 2014, she was announced as the winner of Kara Project, earning an overall score of 49,591. In her winning speech, Youngji expressed her determination to work even harder as the newest member of Kara.
