Huojuva Lato is a roots-influenced band from North Karelia, Finland, blending elements of American folk, country, and country rock with Finnish-language storytelling lyrics. The group was formed in 2008 by singer-songwriter Suonna Kononen, and later joined by Ilkka Vartiainen, Yrjö Vähäkallio, and drummer Jarkko Pohjolainen. Their debut single “Hullu suomenhevonen” (“Crazy Finnhorse”) was released in 2008, followed by the full-length album Lähde länteen! (“Go West!”) in 2010 via Pilfink Records. Since then, the band has released several albums, including Rakkaus ja juuret (“Love and Roots”, 2012), Lauluja menneiltä kesiltä (“Songs from Past Summers”, 2014), Lättähattu (2016), Viimeiset vanhat hyvät päivät (“The Last of the Good Old Days”, 2020), and Utopia, Texas (2022). The lineup has evolved over the years.
