about

Experimental music ensemble from Asheville, NC. Live shows are a guaranteed unique experience with almost nothing known about the sound by the performers beforehand. Sounds range from freeform to hooks, ambient to noise and even psychedelic rock. The band has played at Asheville Fringe Fest, UNC Asheville, and Ingrown Fest. Vitals was recorded and released online in the spring of 2012. Lineups have ranged from three to nine members, but about four people are in the band on a regular basis: RW, AL, DL, and JW. Frequent collaborators are BK, JC, MB. They are currently working on their first physical release. "The music is chaotic, discomforting. You’re pleased to discover it’s being created by a live band in the basement — three vocalists, a couple of keyboards, a guy with a clarinet and a drum with the snare unhooked. All of this is violently distorted so it sounds more like a bevy of zombies eating the brains out of animated stereos and hacking them with chainsaws." - someone at Fringe Fest 2012 User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
