about

Mei Hua San Nong (梅花三弄) - Plum Blossom Melodies, Lyre music (古琴曲), was originally performed by Huan Yi (桓伊) in Eastern Jin (东晋) Dynasty (317 - 420) as flute solo. Listed as one of ten best ancient Chinese music pieces, "Plum Blossom Melodies" is also called "Plum Blossom Prelude" or "Jade Imperial Concubine Prelude". It is more popular in the versions of flute music and lyre music. With plum blossoms as its theme, the music sings of persons with high moral integrity through depiction of the undaunted and indomitable character of plum blossoms that burst into bloom in defiance of the ferocious cold frost, chilling gales and drifting snowflakes.
