Sena’s birth in the Kurdish region of Dersim / Western Kurdistan (today’s Tunceli in Eastern Turkey) includes only a small part of the former language and cultural area; the music is not only everywhere in daily life present, there is also a central mainly part of the spiritual world of the Alawite dominated population. In the mythology of the people of Dersim - represent a living for centuries in secluded mountainous and largely pre-Islamic culture, its religious references sun, water springs, rocks, mountain peaks and inner retreat by (rhythm), singing and dancing - are the bards and folk singers of great importance : they are the sole and authentic narrators of this very old, rare and threatened extinction of the language, culture and music tradition. Times very gently, sometimes rough, but always accompanied by powerful and melancholy she sings the epics and ballads of their homeland. Vocally she feels the traditional music of her homeland to strive both authentic and the musical heritage of the Alawite bard through modern arrangements and the use of Western instruments in contemporary music adapted.
