Based in Eastern Suburbs, Sydney, Australia, 4 teenage girls had a passion for music and all knew each other from school. In 2023, they had the idea of creating a band with the knowledge that they all played an instrument. They made social media accounts and created their name, ‘Hour Language’. After blowing up on TikTok, many opportunities opened for them. They had a session with a band, The Rions and came up with a rough idea of their now single, ‘Purple Lady’, blending genres of indie, rock and pop. Their song is based off of a lady they saw whilst they were sitting in a van before their first ever studio visit. She was dressed head to toe in purple and came to a stop right in front of the van, she stood and stared. This moment stuck with the band and they used this memory to create their song about a spirit that acts as a stalker, showing mixed signals. Hour Language is heavily inspired by artists such as Ocean Alley, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley and Mac DeMarco. With hopes of going on tour in the future, the band is working on writing as many songs as possible and plan to soon release an EP.
