Hot Swiss Mistress are a Wellington, New Zealand based indie guitar band. Featuring singer songwriter Warner Emery on guitar and vocals, Rhys Telford on bass and Benjamin King on drums. Emery also plays bass and sings backing vocals with The Phoenix Foundation and has recorded an album under his solo project, The Friendly Barnacle. Over the years Telford has played in many bands in Wellington, usually as a drummer. Hot Swiss aside, these have most recently included Paseload, Luxury Liner, The Crypt Kicker 3 and Over the Atlantic (who at the time of writing, are currently touring the USA, Britain and Europe). Although drumming for Hot Swiss Mistress, King has formal training in bass guitar. In 2006 Hot Swiss Mistress released their debut EP, The Falling Stars available for online purchase at Smokecds. Its really good and you should have a listen to it. They have tracks available for listen on their my space as well. The EP has almost completely captured their live sound, which was always always going to be an impossible task given how powerful and moving their live sound is.
