HOODS UP 495 (now known as Moscow Death Brigade) is a DIY antifascist band from Moscow, Russia, playing hip-hop with hardcore-punk attitude. The main goal of the band is to play the music we love (from hip-hop to punk) and stand up against racism, homophobia, sexism and religious bullshit, which are really huge in our country today. The band was started by the members of some Russian punk and hardcore acts, such as FRANK CASTLE GONNA BREAK YOUR NECK! and RAZOR BOIS. We believe, that hip-hop music is a very powerful medium to spread positive message. And it may be an extremely destructive weapon against ignorance, prejudices, bigotry, jock mentality and hate. Unfortunately, for most people today hip-hop is associated with some weak-ass, blatantly sexist and homophobic crap straight outta popular TV and radio channels. But we are absolutely sure, that someday DIY hip-hop bands, started by the kids for the kids, will be fighting the same fight as their punk/hardcore comrades. Becasue the kids will finally have their fucking say!!! Yeah, and we also have our own little label, called "Boycott The Fencewalkers" (that's right - fuck everybody, who supports nazi-boneheads, goin to their shows and shaking their fuckin hands), which just released a benefit compilation PLANET OF FRIENDS to raise some money for a guy, crippled by nazi scum.
