HIRAMEKA HI-FI were a fiery foursome (occasionally threesome) from Colchester who were born out of the ashes of local bands TEEBO and LANDO. Brought up on Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Fugazi and other champions of the alternative nation their first release "Munchin'" was released on Gringo Records in 1998. A four song EP called "Play Hard" followed before they were picked up and signed by an offshoot of professional label Che Records (home of Urusei Yatsura). Their first release for the label was "Hold It Up/No Pictures". It was their third single in a row to be picked up by Steve Lamacq and John Peel for Radio One. Also mainstream press through the NME and Melody Maker started to happen. A mini album was on the horizon when original drummer Dom Gentry decided to leave. With new drummer Ben Wright on board they were up to Glasgow to record "A Proud Tradition Of Failure" to be continued.....
