Himig Heswita was a Philippine liturgical music ensemble formed by Jesuit priests and their colleagues. Their genre is typically tagged as hymn/liturgical and worship music, reflecting their role in the Jesuit Music Ministry (the word “Heswita” itself means “Jesuit” in Filipino). The group’s history dates back to their debut album Himig Heswita (1981) was released to mark 400 years of Jesuit presence in the Philippines. Since then they have put out several sacred albums and compilations – for example, The Best of Himig Heswita, Purihin’t Pasalamatan, Your Dwelling Place, Stand By Me Still and others.
