about

Hayla Weisz is a young and indisputably talented Israeli artist with an interminable passion for making great music and having 'a hell of a time' doing so. Born in Israel on the 14th of April, 1983, Hayla Weisz was raised by a family of mixed backgrounds in Jerusalem. Her Belgian father and Israeli mother have 3 daughters, Hayla being the youngest among them. Hayla grew up listening to an interesting variety of music, ranging from folk to indie rock and traces of all these kinds of music can be found in her music today. Since the age of 3, Hayla has been writing gloomy poetry and several of her poems have been internationally published. As a teenager, she divided her time between reading poetry and philosophy, playing and teaching guitar and writing songs. She was mostly influenced, lyric-wise, by Fiona Apple, Bob Dylan, Dylan Thomas and Walt Whitman. Other artists that played an important role in Hayla's teens were the Rolling Stones, Tom Waits, David Bowie, Joni Mitchell, Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, Sheryl Crow and various jazz musicians. In 2004, Hayla enrolled to 'Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music' where she majored in guitar performance and sound design. During this time she met various artists with whom she would perform recurrently later on. In the last few years Hayla played lead guitar in various rock bands and worked with well established songwriters, among them Shany Kedar (This House, Nymph & more) and The Elephant Band, and recorded with top notch
