about

Hideg Roncs is a noise duo from Budapest, Hungary, formed by Ferenc Broder (bass, effects) and Mihály Rácz (bass, effects). "Hideg Roncs" translates as "cold wreck", but also has an ambiguous meaning as "nervous breakdown". The duo started in 1987, developing different musical styles, until reaching a concrete, basic and pure sound, that could be defined "natural noise". Hideg Roncs released a cassette titled "A Hang / The Voice" in 1991, and their first vinyl titled "Ritual" in 1992, playing a kind of ritualistic music, using basses, voices and nature-recording only, going back to where the sound originates and search for the "heart of hearing". They released a cassette titled "A Kép / The Picture" in 1993, and a split tape with Insinerator in 1994. In the same year they released a 7" vinyl titled "A Vihar / The Storm" on the cult German label Drone Records.
