Artist
Hermann Regner (1928-2008) was a German music educationalist and composer. Regner was born on the 12th May 1928 in Market Oberdorf , Allgaeu, Germany. He studied conducting and composition at the Leopold Mozart Conservatory in Augsburg, then musicology and folklore at the University of Munich. He received his doctorate with a thesis Taktwechselnde Volkstänze im schwäbischen Ries. From 1958 to 1964 he worked as a lecturer at the Academy of Music in Trossingen. From 1964 to 1993 he was Professor of Musical Education at the Orff Institute of the Mozarteum in Salzburg, where one of his students was Carl Orff. Regner published widely on music education, and was co-editor of the educational work Musik und Tanz für Kinder. He died on the 29th December 2008 in Großgmain.
