Herbert Tachezi (born February 12, 1930 in Wiener Neustadt; † December 9, 2016 in Klosterneuburg) was an Austrian organist, harpsichordist and composer. Life: Herbert Tachezi was already active as a choir director and organist during his school days. After graduating from high school in 1948, he studied at the Music Academy in Vienna (music education, piano and improvisation, organ with Alois Forer, composition with Alfred Uhl and Karl Schiske) and at the University of Vienna (German studies). He passed both the final examinations in composition in 1953 and organ in 1955 "with distinction". He also took harpsichord lessons from Fritz Neumeyer in Freiburg im Breisgau. From 1952 to 1967 Tachezi was a music teacher at high schools in Vienna. From 1952 he gave concerts as an organist, harpsichordist and Fortepiano specialist throughout Europe and overseas. He was first organist of the Wiener Hofmusikkapelle, juror at international competitions, lecturer at international courses and from 1963 to 2010 harpsichordist and organist at the Concentus Musicus Wien, founded by Nikolaus Harnoncourt. From 1958 Tachezi taught at the Music Academy in Vienna. In 1967 he received an L1 professorship there. From 1972 he held an extraordinary professorship and from 1977 to 1998 a full professorship for composition theory and organ. Cellist Herwig Tachezi and violinist Christian Tachezi are his sons. Cellist Wilfried Tachezi is his brother. Herbert Tachezi was buried in the Weidlinger Friedhof
