Heptagram is a Bulgarian space rock and progressive project founded in Plovdiv by multi-instrumentalist and composer Daniel Ivanov. Originally conceived as a solo studio endeavor in 2007, the project gained significant underground traction with the 2012 release of Lucidity, an eclectic album that blended echoed, spacey guitar textures with psychedelic soundscapes. Over the years, Ivanov’s vision evolved from a bedroom project into a powerhouse live act, recruiting a revolving cast of talented musicians from the Bulgarian rock scene to bring his complex, layered compositions to the stage. By the time of their 2018 record Glass Elevators, Heptagram had solidified its reputation as a premiere name in Eastern European psych-rock, known for their ability to balance technical proficiency with deep, atmospheric melancholy. The band’s sound is defined by expansive instrumental passages and a transformative energy that draws inspiration from icons like Pink Floyd and King Crimson, while modernizing the genre with elements of alternative and post-rock. Recent releases like Larval (2020) and Submerge (2023) showcase an ever-evolving sonic palette, featuring everything from intricate polyrhythms to immersive, "parallel dimension" live sets.
