Artist
Henri Gilles de Pusieux is a name used in modern catalogues for a small ars nova motet repertory transmitted in major 14th-century manuscripts. In prosopographical reference, the closest securely defined identity is Gilles de Pusiex (de)—a composer/musician recorded with variant forms including Aegidius/Egidius and spellings such as Puisieux/Puiseux/Pusieux, and dated by activity to 1342–1348. Two motets commonly surfaced under the modern “Henri Gilles de Pusieux” heading—“Ida capillorum … / Portio nature … / Ante tronum trinitatis” and “Rachel plorat filios … / Ha, fratres …”—are documented in DIAMM and are witnessed in sources including the Codex Ivrea. Modern recordings (for example David Munrow’s Music of the Gothic Era) continue to circulate these pieces, keeping this attribution cluster audible even where the underlying medieval author-name remains complex.
